Web Site Purpose and Services
This site's purpose is to provide Society members and other visitors with information on our organization and issues in Government Management and Leadership, particularly at the State and Local level but, in fact, all levels of government, and to facilitate ongoing education in government leadership and management. Like the Society itself, this web site seeks to provide members with:
- Information resources;
- Educational opportunities;
- Community and networking opportunities; and
- Services for learning and professional activities.
Through the Public Manager's Forum Bulletin Board and other resources, this site is designed to be an active community for Certified Public Managers and others in the public management field to use for communications, discussion, networking, project management, research, problem solving, and continuing education. Like any web site, ours is dynamic and growing. Let us know what you think so far. Most importantly for public servants, let us know what you need and how we can help you improve both public services and the public managers who deliver those services.
One of the unique objectives of this web site is to assist Certified Public Managers in their ongoing education and their professional public service activities. Towards that end, the Society is committed to making the tools available on this web site available to members to facilitate their work and educational activities. In brief, how can we help you today?
Technology Services for Members
How can we facilitate your learning and your ability to do your job? Are you managing a project team that needs a private web forum for communications and collaboration? Would you like to use a web based project management system for your team? Do you require an e-mail list server? Does your team need a web based group calendar for scheduling? Is a web page needed for your project? Do you need a web based contact form like the ones used on this site? Can you use a private Wiki system? Or, do you need other common web based services?
As a member of the DC Society of Certified Public Managers, the Society can assist you with these resources on this web site. We will provide you with access to our web facilities for services such as those above, or any others within our joint technical capabilities; that is, your own technical abilities and those of our web team. Whether you are currently in a CPM program or a graduate needing assistance to improve public services, let us know how we can help you. We will even help you maintain communications with the community groups that you work with as part of your job.
The requirements to qualify for such assistance are simple: In general, your request must relate either to your CPM class work or your professional work. You must be a member of the Society. And, if new costs are involved, you must provide the appropriate funding; however, you may be surprised by what we can do with the systems already in place or with freely available software. While we cannot offer to substitute for your own full-time information technology staff, we can offer some assistance that they cannot.
If you have a project in mind, or want to know more about how we can help, please contact us using the request for assistance form. Provide us with a brief description of your needs and time frame requirements, and complete contact information. Be sure to include your correct e-mail address, and include your telephone number in the body of your message.
We are here to serve our members and, in turn, the public through our membership and Society activities. So, again, let us know how we can help.
