Governing Magazine for Certified Pubic Managers
The DC Society of Certified Public Managers has implemented a special subscription arrangement with Governing Magazine for Society members. Governing is a controlled circulation magazine serving state and local government managers that is provided without charge to qualifying government employees. As a group, Certified Public Managers are one of Governing’s key target subscriber groups. Therefore, Governing has agreed to provide subscriptions to qualifying members of the DC Society of Certified Public Managers who complete a special Society membership form that contains a minimal number of qualifying questions related to Governing. While Governing reserves the right to make final decisions regarding the qualifications of individual members, the combined membership / subscription form will streamline the subscription process for those members that wish to receive Governing and help build a lasting partnership between the Society and Governing.
Governing is a monthly magazine whose primary audience is state and local government officials: governors, legislators, mayors, city managers, council members and other elected, appointed, and career officials. Thus, Governing’s readers, like Certified Public Managers, are the men and women who set policy for and manage the day-to-day operations of cities, counties and states, as well as governmental bodies such as school boards and special districts.
Governing magazine has a circulation of approximately 85,000. Besides public officials, its readers include journalists, academics, companies that provide products and services for government, and involved citizens with an interest in the governments closest to them. Governing is published by Congressional Quarterly, Inc., a subsidiary of the Times Publishing Co. of St. Petersburg, Florida. In 1994, Governing acquired City & State magazine, and the two publications were merged into Governing.
In order for a member of the DC Society of Certified Public Managers to
receive Governing, their application for Society membership must be
submitted on a special form and they must affirmatively indicate on
the form that they wish to receive the magazine. Several specific
qualifying questions related to the Governing subscription must also
be completed on the form. Current members who wish to receive
Governing may complete a new membership form, at no additional cost,
and ask the Society's Treasurer to substitute it for their current,
previously completed form. The
new form will be transmitted to Governing so that the subscription qualification
information may be reviewed by Governing staff members. Of course,
a Certified Public Manager's Society membership must be current in order
for the Society to process the form, and a renewal payment will be requested
if necessary to bring an individual's membership status up-to-date.
Governing for Non-Members
As always , Governing Magazine is also available to anyone desiring to subscribe. If you are not a member of the Society and wish to request a free subscription to Governing, you may subscribe by clicking here, and you will be taken to a Governing online subscription page (if asked, please specifiy priority code DCCPM). As above, Governing Magazine reserves the final right to determine subscriber qualifications for free subscriptions and those not qualifying for free subscriptions can also request a paid subscription.
